TeamWomen

TeamWomen is a nonprofit women’s organization dedicated to developing future generations of women in leadership. Their membership includes 650+ women from the C-suite to young professionals currently working in a variety of industries. TeamWomen inspires these women to make meaningful connections and rise together through their mentorship program, leadership development events, and opportunities for youth empowerment through their sister organization, Empower.

One of the TeamWomen’s biggest problems during the COVID-19 pandemic was a decrease in their overall membership. Our goal as digital designers and consultants was to make the website easier for current and potential members to navigate, as well as better explain the benefits of TeamWomen membership for professionals and young professionals during a global pandemic. We believe our complete redesign of the homepage and the simplification of the navigation bar did just that, as evidenced by our extensive ideation process and comprehensive usability testing we performed on the pages we modified.

We collaborated with our client to figure out what modifications were most important for the website design. Our team did multiple low fidelity prototypes online and on paper, then transitioned to making high fidelity prototypes on Figma. Every week, after our client meetings, we adjusted our prototype to ensure that it fit TeamWomen’s growth objectives and the problems they were looking to solve. We met regularly to blend everyone’s ideas and have discussions together to get the best product.

The challenges that we ran into were mostly centered around incorporating elements from multiple wireframes among the different pages in order to realize the vision that TeamWomen was striving for. Another challenge was how to brand the organization in terms of clearly defining who TeamWomen is as an organization, its purpose and opportunities, and its relationship to its sister organization, Empower. We also took time to learn how to create clickable prototypes in Figma that we ultimately used for usability testing.

During the final iteration of all our page designs, we made modifications based on the feedback from the usability testing with the interactive Figma prototype. The final version delivered a clearer impression of the organization and the services they offer to the users with fewer clicks and a layout that met the primary goals of the users on the corresponding pages. The final set of pages includes: the homepage and navigation bar, the events page, the membership information and signup form, the resource pages, the mentorship page, the about pages, and the member login page. For all of these pages, our version received positive subjective and objective responses.
