The Arc Minnesota is a non profit with the goal of helping those with intellectual disabilities. We delivered advice on how to restructure their website backed up by user feedback to the Arc MN’s web development team.

You Grow Girl

DUCC

We're working with You Grow Girl, Inc., a nonprofit that is working to grow middle school-aged girls' self efficacy and self confidence through an in school workshop. We are working to design a website the girls can visit at home after the workshop to continue their learning. We're also working on new programming ideas and a prototype for something they can take home to remember their day.

Design U Expansion

Independent Project

Liam Mullen investigated how Design U might expand to other schools, and what tools are necessary for that to happen. He interviewed the founders of multiple organizations and created a strategy for organizational expansion.

Feminist Book Club

Digital

Feminist Book Club is a monthly subscription box, which allows subscribers to add items to their monthly box and make changes to their account.

The team modified the user experience in order to solve subscription issues for Feminist Book Club members. It's like Netflix for book-lovers.

Harvest Nation

Prototyping

Harvest Nation is a start-up indoor aeroponics farm which has the goal to sell produce to families in rural Minnesota. Our project team worked on designing a modular plant shelving system that fits their needs which include accommodating for different plant varieties and maintaining feasibility and low costs.

Young Builders and Designers

R&S

Young Builders and Designers is a for-profit organization that holds design workshops for the end goal of career preparation and inspiring design interest in kids aged 8-17.

Our goal for this semester was to figure out "how might we aid our client in developing stepwise plans for finding volunteers, breaking into online advertising, and how to manage a social media account".

Finley's Barkery

Prototyping

This prototyping team is working with Finley's Barkery, a local dog treat company that does good work for pets by making treats with good clean ingredients and for people by donating 50% of their profits to causes that support people with special needs.

Because Finley's is growing, they asked DesignU to help them design both a box for the bags of treats to get shipped in and an end cap that would be displayed in pet/ grocery stores.

ReUse Center

proto-minnebulb_edited.png

Prototyping

UMN ReUse is a program created by the University to house and sell reused items. The problem statement we are addressing is, how might we make UMN ReUse a more customer friendly experience?

TeamWomen

rs-minnebulb_edited.png

R&S

This semester, our team has been working with local non-profit TeamWomen, a professional leadership and empowerment organization for women (and men!).

TeamWomen is looking to expand nationally, so we have formed the question of "how might we develop an effective strategy for TeamWomen to expand nationally?"

Finley's Barkery

Digital

Our team is working with Finley's Barkery, a dog treat company whose mission is to bring inclusivity in the workforce by creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities. We are working to improve their digital communication (website, social media, e-newsletter) while bringing attention to their message and engaging their target audience of millennials and pet lovers.

Design U Client Experience

Independent Project

Minjae Lee synthesized multiple interviews with previous and current clients in order to develop a strategy for improving Design U's client experience. This strategy will give the clients a more engaged and structured experience before, during, and after they work with Design U.
